ASIC enforces and regulates company and financial services laws to protect consumers, investors and creditors.
ASIC currently maintain a large number of disparate databases, with issues such as outdated (pre-relational) technology, poor data quality and duplication.
A programme is underway to resolve these issues and a precursor is to define a definitive enterprise conceptual data model for ASIC. This will then be transformed into logical data models to serve the needs of individual applications. br>
A team of data modellers was managed to complete the first phase of work. They evaluated data modelling tools, produced data modelling standards, built a business glossary and produced conceptual and logical data models.
